What is a Facelift?
A facelift (or rhytidectomy), usually in combination with a neck lift, is a surgical procedure designed to make the face and neck appear more youthful by lifting up the skin and tissues and the underlying muscle to make the face tauter and smoother.
While facelift surgery cannot stop the aging process or gravity, it can improve one's appearance, making patients look younger.

What types of facelifts are available?
Traditional Facelift
A traditional facelift involves incisions on each side of the face spanning from the temples, around the bottoms of the ears, to the lower scalp.
Excess skin and fat may be removed or repositioned before the remaining skin is pulled tight and incisions are closed. Recovery takes approximately 2 weeks and results are permanent.
Mini Facelift
A mini facelift involves shorter incisions than a traditional facelift and is most effectively performed on patients with mild to moderate signs of aging. Most patients can return to work within 1 to 2 weeks following a mini facelift.
Deep Plane Facelift
A deep plane facelift varies from a traditional facelift as it lifts beneath the layer of muscle and does not involve the detachment of the skin from the muscle, and offers even more dramatic and longer-lasting results. It is the most invasive facelift procedure, and recovery typically takes approximately 2-3 weeks.
SMAS Facelift
The SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) facelift targets the lower portion of the face (below the forehead) and involves the tightening of muscle and removal of excess fat and skin. The SMAS facelift, unlike the deep plane facelift, lifts the skin and SMAS layers separately.
