Breast Implants Leak Due to Sleeping Position
Typically saline implants manifest leaks quickly. This means that if there's a leak it should happen quickly. Slow leaks are very unusual for saline implants. In addition sleeping on your stomach should not cause implant ruptures in any type of implant. Anytime you're concerned about the shape change in your breasts you should see your surgeon.
Clinical Context
Breast implants sit in a pocket of tissue that cushions them, so normal sleeping positions don't put meaningful pressure on the implant shell. When ruptures do occur, they're usually caused by the implant valve wearing down over time, the shell weakening with age, or a direct injury such as a car accident or hard blow to the chest. Sleep position itself isn't a known cause of implant rupture. If you notice a change in breast shape or size, contact your surgeon for evaluation.
