Botox Pricing by Unit versus by Area
In my Bay Area practice we price Botox by the area. I'll explain why. BOTOX® is distributed in a powder form and depending on how it is diluted a patient may get more or less actual Botox injected. We see many patients disappointed in BOTOX® injections done somewhere else. It is this fact that causes some groups to price Botox by the unit - which is a great way to assure you're getting a certain amount of Botox for the money you're paying. Here's the problem - If you are like most people considering Botox injections, you just want your wrinkles to go away. The amount of Botox needed for full correction varies by the area treated and from person to person and can even change depending on how long you've been using Botox. That's why we price our BOTOX® by the area treated, not by the unit. If the patient comes back in 3-5 days without significant improvement (very unusual) we can perform touch-ups. The best advice is to find a reputable office of a board-certified plastic surgeon in your area with an experienced Botox injector and establish a relationship with them. You will get the best long-term results because they will have a record of which areas were treated, what worked in the past and should be willing to do touch-ups for you as required.
