In the immediate post-op period you may have swelling and bruising that may give away that you've had a correction but after that resolves it should be very difficult to tell that you've had an otoplasty.
Clinical Context
Scarring depends on the type of ear surgery, not just the word 'otoplasty.' Surgery to correct protruding ears typically uses a small incision on the back of the ear, hidden in the natural crease, so it heals inconspicuously. Revision surgery, ear-size reduction, or reconstruction after injury or a congenital ear difference sometimes needs incisions on the front of the ear or inside the ear bowl, which can be more visible.
