What Facial Areas Does Juvederm Treat?
Juvederm and other HA products (like Restylane) are FDA approved for nasolabial folds. However, most trained plastic surgeons also use the product for lip enhancement, scar correction and marionette lines.
Clinical Context
Hyaluronic acid fillers work by attracting water and adding volume under the skin. In the nasolabial folds, they simply fill the crease. In the lips and marionette lines, the gel needs to hold shape despite constant movement from talking and expression, so a firmer, more cohesive formulation is often used. For scars, filler can help raise skin that's tethered down by scar tissue, giving a smoother surface.
